Why Indigenous Partnership Still Changes Project Outcomes
International operators bring capital, standards, and technology. Indigenous partners bring the operating context those assets must live in. Mican was established in Ghana in 2009 to sit at that intersection — a local company that can talk both languages without treating either as an afterthought.
Local content is sometimes reduced to a percentage on a slide. In practice it is who employs the drivers, who can reach a regional official on a Friday afternoon, and who is still accountable when a community issue appears on a haul road. Those are not “soft” extras. They decide whether a logistics plan survives contact with the week.
We hire and train for the work we actually do: mining logistics, warehousing, customs, and site support. Clients get a counterpart who is invested in Ghana’s mining economy, not a representative flying in for the kickoff and out after the first invoice.
Expertise in supply chain only matters when it is exercised by people who already know the corridor.

Partnership that is operational, not ceremonial
The best relationships we have are the ones where Mican is inside the planning cycle — shutdown freight, reagent campaigns, contractor mobilisation — rather than bidding for leftover trucking. Early involvement is how we remove cost, not how we add a logo to a tender.
What clients gain from an indigenous lead
- On-the-ground decision making without waiting for an offshore time zone
- Workforce and subcontractors who already work mining-region protocols
- A single accountable partner for customs, warehouse, and haulage
- Continuity: the same company that started in 2009 is still on the corridor
Ethics as operating practice
We state plainly that customer satisfaction, sustainability, and ethical practice are not marketing lines. Mining communities notice how trucks behave, how labour is treated, and whether a contractor disappears after the contract. Reputation is part of our licence to operate, and we protect it the same way we protect a consignment.
